New for 2026: Coureur des bois July 6 2026 – July 12 2026

For campers ages 14 to 15. Campers complete safety training and then embark on a four day canoe trip. In the style of Coureur des bois they will be paddling our big canoe – the Charlotte Small. This canoe is named after Charlotte Small, a Métis woman who notably joined her surveyor, map maker, and explorer husband David Thompson on his expeditions to map Canada.

PeeWee July 31 2026 – August 4 2026

For campers ages 6 to 10 this session is a great way to introduce younger campers to camp. Staffed by alumni the majority of our counsellors are parents themselves. We maintain an amazingly small ratio of counsellors to campers providing the care young campers need on their first experience at an overnight camp.

Outdoor Skills (OS)

For campers age 15. Campers develop outdoor skills that they then use on an 8 day canoe trip through beautiful Temagami. Outdoor Skills counts as a high school credit.

Leaders in Training (LIT)

For campers age 16. This leadership course is a fantastic way to prepare for a job at camp or to develop the leadership skills that will help develop you as you become a young adult. This also counts as a high school credit.

Flexible Pricing

Camp Big Canoe is offering flexible pricing with 3 choices for our sessions. Every family can choose the level  of payment that is right for their situation. The level you choose is voluntary and will in no way influence the experience your children will have at camp, yet it offers the opportunity for families to take an active role in supporting the true cost of their child’s camp experience.  Only office staff will be aware of the rate choice, for billing purposes.

Option A is the traditionally subsidized rate, Option C is the rate that is more representative of the true cost of camp, while option B is the mid-point. We recognize that Option A is still difficult for some families to cover, so camperships will continue to be available. Please reach out to our camp director or business administration director on how to apply for a campership.
