by Stacey Baker – Camper & Staff 1989-1998

Going to Camp Big Canoe played a huge role in my life; who I was, and who I am today. It was my first real experience being away from home and getting the chance to find out who I could be.

I looked forward to going to camp each summer, first as a camper, Skills, CIT, and finally staff (counsellor and programmer). Those were some of the best times of my life. Out trips, French River with Skills, polar bear, Kangaroo Court, capture the flag, SD’s, banquet dinners, and songs and guitars around the campfire on the beach are some of my favorite camp memories.

The friends I met at CBC as a camper are still some of my best friends today. My first real relationship was with someone I met at camp, and I also eventually married a camp person (Glen McLellan). Camp Big Canoe is never far from my heart, and I am so grateful for all the years I spent at Hart Lake.
